IMPORTANT - YOUR ACTION REQUESTED

The Lafayette City-Parish Council will consider asking voters to raise property taxes for parks and recreation. 

What is being proposed is replacing the existing 1.92-mill recreation tax with a new 7-mill tax. This is three times the current amount being assessed for parks and recreation out of what you already pay.

If this measure is approved by the Council, there will be an April 6th vote in the city of Lafayette. (Question....) Do you think it is fair that those that don't own property are allowed to vote on raising the property taxes on those that do.

LCG Parks and Recreation says the millage has not been raised since 1961.  With the population growth & the massive home building in Lafayette over the past 51 years why would they need to increase the millage? (Horse Farm purchase by the city??)  We must put a stop, on the local level also to this out of control mentality to tax the citizens and spend unwisely. This is important folks!

PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO ATTEND THIS MEETING. Also those in the city of Lafayette please contact your City Councilman and request that they vote NO on this property tax increase!
